In recent years, there have been efforts to promote greater acceptance and inclusion of kathoey individuals in Thai society. The Thai government has implemented policies aimed at protecting the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals, including the kathoey community. However, much work remains to be done to address the entrenched social and economic inequalities faced by these individuals.

While several performers use the stage name "Nancy," the most documented figure is a performer and social media presence known for her association with some of the city's most prestigious venues.

Nancy's friends and family had eventually come to accept her for who she was, and she had built a supportive community of loved ones who appreciated her for her unique spirit. She had even found a job as a performer at a popular cabaret in Pattaya, where she could showcase her talents and entertain crowds of tourists.

The ladyboy culture of Pattaya is complex and multifaceted. On one hand, it is a community that is deeply rooted in Thai tradition and culture. Kathoey individuals have been a part of Thai society for centuries, with historical records indicating that they were even revered in certain contexts. In ancient Thai kingdoms, kathoey individuals were often employed as dancers, entertainers, and even advisors to royalty.
