About us

BSDR

Baku Street Dog Rescue (BSDR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity registered in the U.S., dedicated to rescuing homeless, neglected, and abused animals in Azerbaijan.

Since 2015

We began in 2015 with a single mission: to bring compassion to the streets of Baku. Today, our small but passionate team continues this mission with on-the-ground rescue work, vet care, sheltering, and rehoming.

In the age of hyper-specific search queries, internet users sometimes combine names, organizations, dates, and identity markers in ways that defy easy categorization. One such query — — presents a linguistic puzzle. Does it refer to a transgender woman named Jim Powers who belonged to Omega Pi fraternity or sorority and changed her legal gender marker to “X” in 2021? Or is it a collage of disconnected terms from different corners of LGBTQ+ history, Greek life, and legal changes?
