Some fake generators appear to work. You enter your license number, click "Generate," and it spits out a code. You copy it into QuickBooks, and the software unlocks! How? Because the generator is actually a proxy. It secretly sends your License Number and your computer's hardware ID to a remote server operated by a pirate. The pirate then uses a stolen credit card to buy a legitimate Validation Code from Intuit and sends it back to you. When the stolen credit card is reported, Intuit immediately blacklists that Validation Code. You will be locked out 30 days later, possibly with corrupted company files. Meanwhile, the criminal now has a record of your unique machine ID.
