The TVP2588U is a dedicated video decoder IC, primarily designed to convert analog composite or S-Video signals into digital YCbCr 4:2:2 data streams. It was commonly found on PCI-based TV tuner cards, professional video capture devices, and industrial imaging boards from the early to mid-2000s. At its peak, it supported Windows 98, 2000, and XP via proprietary WDM (Windows Driver Model) drivers provided by Texas Instruments or third-party board manufacturers.
